SEN and EHCP solicitors that are supportive and cost-effective

At Access to Public Law, our SEN solicitors and education lawyers provide expert legal advice for parents navigating EHCP applications, EHCP challenges, failures to implement EHCPs properly, SEN disputes, and tribunal hearings. If you’re struggling with your child’s Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) or meeting their Special Education Needs (SEN) more generally, we offer cost-effective legal solutions to help you secure the support they need. Our specialist legal team ensures you’re never alone in the fight for your child’s educational rights.

Affordable SEN Lawyers & EHCP Legal Support

Getting the help of a professional can be daunting from a cost perspective. We want to make legal services as accessible as we can. Not every part of your case requires a fully qualified solicitor. Cases can be run by different people with different levels of SEN and EHCP experience and, consequently, different associated costs. The important thing for you, is to know that at any time, no matter what happens on your case, you have access to the full range of SEN and EHCP legal experts that you need when they are needed.

So, we provide Case Managers who are experts in the processes to be followed when trying to secure or challenge EHCPs. We have Advanced Legal Support to focus on cases during more demanding phases of EHCP and SEN work such as representation in meetings, hearings and at tribunals or where the issues are more challenging. We have Expert Legal Support for those complex EHCP and SEN cases or where there are disputes over expert evidence in the various fields related to EHCP and SEN cases evidence or where there are real legal questions arising in the law related to SEN and EHCP provision. And for those cases of greatest complexity, we have access to a network of barristers that we can bring in to provide help.

Our legal experts will provide a clear cost estimate before any escalation or change so you have complete transparency, continuity of service and control over your legal costs.

A supportive approach

We know that as a parent of a child with SEN, your everyday life is already challenging enough. You may find yourself navigating multiple SEN medical appointments, and SEN assessments. Dealing with schools and local authorities just to secure the support your child has been promised can feel like a never-ending battle. Simply finding the time to do this can be overwhelming. Add to that the intense pressure brought by the very personal nature of what you are trying to achieve, for many, the fight can be too much.

That’s where we come in. Our experts in SEN, EHCP and social care law have developed a service that offers consistent, affordable legal support from the earliest stages of your child’s life through to adulthood.

Every Step of the Way’ – EHCP & SEN Legal Support

We are proud to offer our Every Step of the Way service to help parents of children with SEN who are looking to secure or challenge an EHCP or to make sure the requirements of an EHCP are being met by their child’s school and by the local authority responsible for meeting that child’s SEN.

The service is designed to ease your burden by reducing stress, handling administration, and providing expert legal advice—along with representation if needed. You don’t have to face this alone. We offer tailored legal support at a level that suits you, ensuring affordability without the worry of unexpected legal costs. Our service is flexible and personalised to your needs.

Our Education Case Managers have extensive experience guiding parents through the complex processes, meetings, assessments, and paperwork required when advocating for a child or young adult with special needs. Many parents turn to us after exhausting all other avenues, finding that their concerns are taken more seriously once a solicitor becomes involved.

Every Step of the Way: Our Three-Stage Approach:

Step 1: EHCP and SEN Case Management Support (£99 per hour + VAT)

We take the stress off your shoulders by assisting with:

  • Reviewing and explaining EHCP paperwork and processes
  • Communicating with statutory agencies and professionals on your behalf via letters, emails, and phone calls
  • Making formal requests for EHCP related reports and EHCP assessments
  • Helping you prepare for meetings, attending those meetings with you if required, and explaining next steps in the various EHCP and SEN processes

At all times, your case manager has access to a network of other SEN and EHCP professionals so if the complexity of your case changes, that can be managed quickly and seamlessly – and with you remaining in full control of your legal costs.

Step 2: Advanced SEN and EHCP Legal Support (£119 per hour + VAT)

If your case becomes more complex or urgent, requiring additional support then our Advanced Legal Support service may become more appropriate. With it, we can assist with:

  • Attending straightforward annual review meetings
  • Preparing and submitting appeals
  • Assisting with tribunal preparation
  • Completing and filing tribunal paperwork
  • Representing you at straightforward tribunal hearings
  • Sending formal legal notices to statutory bodies (e.g., councils or health services)

Step 3: Expert SEN and EHCP Legal Representation

If you case becomes more difficult, then we can still help. Our status as regulated solicitors means that unlike, other, non-regulated service providers we can still help you with

  • particularly complex cases around SEN and EHCPs
  • difficult questions around SEN and EHCP related expert evidence
new and complex areas of SEN and EHCP law and legal interpretation
  • Letters before claim where threats of Judicial Review are needed in order to make progress
  • Instructing barristers either for representation or for advice on the most complex areas of SEN and EHCP law.
  • So, no matter how easy or difficult your case, we can ensure a smooth transition to our expert SEN lawyers. There’s no need for you to search for another law firm.

Additionally, if your case involves issues related to mental capacity, Deputyship, accommodation provision, transitioning between children and adult services, funding disputes, or Care Act duties, you will have direct access to Melanie Varey, our Community Care Law expert, at the same hourly rate as Imogen.
