At 2 years of age, we were told that our son was so far behind developmentally that he would never catch up. Health professionals advised that he would attend a special school education and there was nothing as parent we could do to improve his life outcomes.

His predicted outcomes were bleak. This was devastating for us as parents.

We sought independent multidisciplinary assessments to establish a diagnosis and clear understanding of our son’s needs. The specialist advice from health experts in the field advised what provision he required and we began to learn more about special educational needs services locally and nationally.

After several years of working with our NHS health professionals and local authority SEN personnel, educational settings, our sons needs were not being met.
